        <Abstract>Il database della Carta Geologica d'Italia alla scala 1:500.000 è stato realizzato negli anni 90 dalla digitalizzazione del formato analogico della carta. Tutte le informazioni contenute nel database sono basate su un criterio di rilevamento di tipo lito-stratigrafico, per cui non vi sono informazioni relative alla tettonica. La banca dati è pertanto composta da 2 strati geometrici e una tabella descrittiva associata alle unità geologiche (poligoni). Lo strato lineare rappresenta i soli limiti formazionali.</Abstract>

Most of the colors come from lithclass 6.1 and 6.2 (see http://www.nadm-geo.org/dmdt/pdf/lithclass61.pdf for lithclass 6.1) plus some creative entries to fill missing entries.
